United U18s Edge Taunton Clash

Young Gulls begin defence of League Cup with away win

United’s recent ownership of the Gary Else Memorial Trophy shows no signs of abating, after Kevin Wills’ side came out on top in a five-goal thriller against Taunton Town.

Although Torquay didn’t have it all their own way, goals from Toby Hard, Freddie Heath and Kye Drinkwater were eventually enough to secure a 3-2 victory in Somerset.

Meanwhile, Torquay’s next opponents in the FA Youth Cup will be Wimborne Town, after the Dorset side ran out 1-0 winners over Poole Town in Friday night’s 2nd Qualifying Round clash.

Wimborne will now play host to the Young Gulls in the 3rd Qualifying Round, with the fixture scheduled to take place next week.

Further information regarding the tie will be announced once confirmed by the host club.
