“All Three Of Them Are Ready To Go,” – Wotton On Sundire, Dennis, and Dolan

Paul Wotton’s recruitment plans have been in full effect as we look forward to the 2025/26 season at Plainmoor.

The additions of Munashe Sundire, Louis Dennis, and most recently Callum Dolan have been welcomed by the Yellow Army ahead of a return to training on June 26.

We sat down with manager Paul Wotton to talk over the new members of the Torquay United squad.

PW on the signing of Munashe Sundire:

“‘Nash’ has been on our radar since about Christmas time. He put in some eye-catching performances for Tamworth in the National League last season. He’s got boundless energy, can win the ball back, is aggressive, and can play off of either foot. I think he’s something that we we missed in midfield last season. Someone who’s combative, somebody who can run and put their foot in.

“He’s been playing in the league above and did very, very well in a Tamworth team that finished the season very strongly.  I was thrilled to get him over the line.”

PW on the signing of Louis Dennis

“Louis Dennis is obviously someone I’ve known about for years – he’s been there and done it. He had an exceptional career at Bromley. He can play anywhere, he can play off the right, off the left, play as a centre forward, play as a ten. He brings versatility, he brings quality. He’s a little bit of a maverick.

“Louis brings experience because he’s played in big play-off games and championship deciders. He’s also played in the Football League and I’m really excited about seeing what Louis can do in a Torquay shirt.”

PW on the signing of Callum Dolan

“Callum’s someone that I’ve known about, actually, since his first loan spell at Torquay. Even though I was managing another team, it’s my job to see who’s doing well on loan and I’ve followed his career since.

“He brings goals from midfield, which we lacked last year. He brings tenacity as well, which we lacked last year. So, I’ve made no secret that I wanted to strengthen the midfield area, or rejig it. Callum obviously comes into that equation. He can play as a ten – he’s more of an eight as well – he can get box to box. He’s got an eye for a goal and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

PW On His Recruitment Plans So Far

“We’ve had to beat off an awful lot of competition to get all three of these players. They’ve been offered financially better deals elsewhere, so it speaks volumes that they want to come down and play for Torquay and they want to succeed.

“They’ve bought straight into the work ethic and they’re showing the right desire to move down here and play for the Club. They fit the character of what a Torquay United player needs to be first and foremost. All three of them are ready to go.”
