UNITED WOMEN BOW OUT OF THE ADOBE FA CUP

RECORD ATTENDANCE AT PLAINMOOR FOR EXETER DERBY

United Women came up against a formidable Exeter City at Plainmoor with the visitors scoring six goals with goals from Sarah Stacey (2), Ellie Sara, Jess Sandland, Emily Toogood and Georgia Vaccaro earning Exeter deserved progression into the next round.

TUWFC manager Ryan Perks was pleased with the effort his team put in against a team two leagues higher in the pyramid.

“I’ve just said to the girls that they should be proud of themselves,” said Perks after the final whistle. “I couldn’t be prouder of the effort that the girls put in. We’ve spoke about character and resilience in previous interviews and I think that was there in abundance.”

Special mention was made by Perks for the 1,010 fans that came to Plainmoor to support the team. “I think the attendance was superb today,” said Perks. “Hopefully they can see what we’re about and what we want to do and they come back and get behind the team against Forest Green.”
