Torquay United FC is saddened to learn of the passing of former goalkeeper Kevin Miller.
Kevin – who had recently been appointed as Goalkeeper Coach at Wigan Athletic – enjoyed a fine career as player, having risen through the ranks at Exeter City before going on to represent the likes of Birmingham, Watford, Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Southampton in top two divisions of English football.
It was whilst at Southampton that Miller made the last of his 700+ appearances as a professional, during a brief loan spell at Plainmoor in 2006/07. A further spell at Plainmoor followed in 2015 when he was appointed as first team goalkeeping coach under player-manager Kevin Nicholson.
After dropping into non-League football, Kevin continued to play until the age of 46 in his native Cornwall with Bodmin Town, before going on to earn an formidable reputation as a coach at Exeter, before following ex-City boss Gary Caldwell to Wigan last summer.
The thoughts and condolences of everyone at TUFC go out to all of Kevin’s family, friends and colleagues at this sad & difficult time.
