Torquay United manager Jimmy Ball says he cannot wait for the 2026–27 National League South season to get underway after the release of the new fixture list.
The Gulls will begin the campaign at Plainmoor, where Horsham are the visitors on the opening day, before another busy season lies ahead for Ball and his squad.
Jimmy is relishing the prospect of starting the campaign on home soil in front of the Yellow Army.
“I’m really excited to have the first game of the season at home,” he said. “I think it will be great for the fans and it should be packed and a great atmosphere. I’ve got a lot of respect for Horsham and their manager, Dominic Di Paola, for the job he does.”
Ball also paid tribute to the club’s travelling support, who backed the Gulls in impressive numbers throughout last season.
“There’s no doubt that the Yellow Army will follow us on the road like they did last season, They create a home atmosphere away from home, which we are grateful for.”
While the fixture list includes a number of challenging spells on the road, Ball is confident his side will be ready to meet every test.
“There’s a couple of double away games which are always tough for us because of the logistics, but everyone has the same scenario, so we will deal with those as they come and take the league on as best we can.”
With pre-season well underway, the United manager admits his focus is now firmly on the opening whistle.
“We’re looking forward to it and we just want to get started now, if I’m being honest.”
Ball also thanked supporters for the excellent response to the club’s Plainmoor Pass season ticket campaign and encouraged anyone yet to secure theirs to join the Yellow Army for the season ahead.
“The more we have the better it is,” he said. “We’d still like people that are on the fence to get their season tickets, as support for the players in a full stadium is just incredible to be a part of.
“The reaction it gets from the players—it’s just great days. So if you haven’t got your season ticket yet, make sure you do. We’re hoping to have a very exciting season.”
