United’s women will be back on the road this Sunday for next FA Women’s National League test at Keynsham Town (13/09/26 2pm KO)
It has almost been a dream start to the season for United Women. Ryan Perks’ side are currently unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions. In fact, of the four games they have played in the league and cup this campaign, they have only tasted defeat on the opening day of the season, in a game that, on another day, they might have got something from.
The team has been in great form at both ends of the pitch as well, with eight goals scored by a number of different goalscorers, while the defence have only conceded two goals. The team also have the luxury of a game in hand over those above them, with the Gwalia League game at Plainmoor still to be played. United currently sit top of their League Cup group, with a winner-takes-all game against Plymouth Argyle still to come.
This weekend’s opponents, Keynsham, come into the game in a different run of form. The K’s arrive at the game after recording three defeats in the league, while they also came out on the wrong end of their League Cup games against the red and blue halves of Bristol.
That doesn’t mean that United will come into the game thinking the three points are guaranteed, however. Last weekend’s opponents, MAP, sit just below Keynsham in the league table and made United work hard to get anything from the game in Ivybridge last weekend.
The United defence will also have to be on top form on the day, with Keynsham having found the back of the net in all but one of their games this season. They will also take solace from the fact that, in a number of those games, they found the back of the net on more than one occasion.
The game will take place at Keynsham’s AJN Stadium. The stadium is also equipped with a 3G surface that will withstand the early autumn elements, meaning that United won’t have to worry about having to play any more catch-up games later in the league season.
