United produced a thoroughly dominant performance to earn progress in the Emirates FA Cup with a 7-0 win over Lymington Town.
New signing Jamie Sendles-White made the starting line-up whilst Saikou Janneh took a place on the bench. United lined up in a 4-4-2 formation.

United looked dangerous from the first minute until the last and restricted their opponents to very little in front of goal.

Chris Regis was the first to test Lymington’s keeper, Nick Jones. His shot from just inside the box had Jones diving to his right, with Ruairi Keating’s follow-up being diverted wide by a defender.

United took the lead in the 36th minute when a cross from Ben Wynter was diverted into his own net by Lewis Brailey, whose slight touch was enough to take it past Jones.

Jamie Reid doubled United’s lead in 36th minute. Opi Edwards was a constant threat on the right wing and it was his low ball that was converted by Reid to double United’s lead.

Jake Andrews’ influence on the game was growing, and he was rightly awarded the Man of the Match award by Lymington Town at the final whistle. His variety of passes was a joy to behold.

United went in at half-time two goals to the good, but it could have been more if Asa Hall’s header hadn’t of struck the bar.

Hall was unlucky once again to get on the score sheet. Again, it was a header from a set-piece but Jones tipped his effort over the bar.
Keating scored United’s third not soon after Hall’s effort. Jake Andrews set him up to finish with a cushioned volley. United had earned their win at that point, but there was more to come.

United’s fourth was made easier when Lymington ‘keeper Nick Jones was caught when he attempted to intercept a ball forward. Jamie Reid was a little too quick of thought, and his ball into the box was eventually finished by Chris Regis. Although there was attempts by defenders to recover the situation, Regis had the goal at his mercy.

United made three substitutions in the second half. Brett Williams and Saikou Janneh replaced Ruairi Keating and Jamie Reid. Jean-Yves Koue Niate made his return to the first team when he replaced Jamie Sendles-White. There will be tougher days ahead, but Sendles-White had an assured debut.

Brett Williams scored twice in quick succession. First he fired home from close range from a low ball into the box, and then he showed poise to find the bottom corner from just outside the box.

Jake Andrews capped his influential display with United’s seventh. He took one touch from a low ball into the box, and then he swivelled and found the bottom corner.
Today’s result was United’s highest in their FA Cup history, eclipsing United’s 7-1 win over Northampton Town in 1959*.

United are back in National League South action in seven days time. Woking are the visitors to Plainmoor in what manager Gary Johnson has already described as a ‘six-pointer’! We hope to see you there Yellow Army!
