Guernsey-born glovesman Hamon began his career in the Channel Islands, before signing for United’s Devon rivals Exeter City in 2013. In addition to making 37 first-team appearances for The Grecians, James gained his first experience of National League South football during loan stints at Hayes & Yeading and Gloucester City, prior to making a permanent move to Truro City in 2019.

With covid restrictions limiting his game time at Truro, the opportunity of a temporary stint at Plainmoor arose in early 2021, with Hamon making his Gulls debut as a late substitute in a 2-1 away win at Solihull Moors.

Once City’s fixtures resumed, James continued to establish himself as Truro’s Number 1 under Paul Wotton, with the ‘keeper playing a starring role as the Cornish side won promotion to National League South in 2022/23.
