Torquay United have signed highly-rated AFC Bournemouth attacking midfielder Frank Vincent on loan until the end of the season.
Vincent, 19, has trained with the Premier League club’s first team and also been a prominent member of their Under 21 team.
Manager Gary Johnson is delighted to capture the 19-year-old starlet.
“He’s a midfield player that can play anywhere across the four in midfield, wide or central and can play as a number 10. He’s got our work ethic, he’s got our way of playing in his head because that’s the way he plays,” said Johnson
“We’re very pleased to have him because he’s a quality player and he will give very good competition to our small squad. Bournemouth have high hopes for him and this is his first loan. Pete [Johnson, head of recruitment] has watched him extensively and rates him highly, and you’ve got to be a good player to get into our team at the moment.
“To be fair to Bournemouth and Frankie, they’re both happy that he comes in and part of his development is going to be fighting for a place. He’s happy to do that and he seems a very level-headed boy as well. A nice lad but very competitive and as I say has a really good work-rate. That’s what impressed us.”
Vincent goes straight into the squad for United’s game away to East Thurrock this Saturday (KO 3pm).
