Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday evening, we would like to provide our supporters with the following update.
With the Club currently having no scheduled first-team fixtures for the foreseeable future and, in line with Government advice/regulation, the stadium will be closed for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, along with most other Clubs, we have taken the difficult decision to furlough the majority of our non-footballing staff from tomorrow. They will remain employed, but they will not be attending the Stadium or undertaking any duties.
The Health and Safety of everyone connected with and supporting the Club is of the utmost importance and in these extraordinary circumstances, we feel it is necessary for the stadium to remain closed.
We would like to stress that this decision has been taken purely as a precaution and in line with Government advice. No-one connected with the club has tested positive for Covid-19, or indeed displayed any of its symptoms.
The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal staff for their hard work, dedication and understanding during this very difficult period.
We would also like to thank the Yellow Army for your continued support and we look forward to entertaining you again soon.
Torquay United is more than a Football Club, we are a family. These are unprecedented times, it is important for all of us to change our routines and lifestyles to incorporate the advice from the experts. Please be careful, stay at home, protect the NHS, and stay safe.
The Club will continue to review status and provide updates.
