Torquay United AFC would like to wish former manager Frank O’Farrell a very happy 93rd birthday.

Following a distinctive playing career representing the likes of West Ham, Preston NE and Republic of Ireland, Frank arrived at Plainmoor in May 1965, and brought immediate success to the Club.

After leading The Gulls to promotion in his first season in charge, O’Farrell’s United went on to establish themselves in English football’s third tier, prior to departing for First Division Leicester City in 1968.

More success at City followed, and after further managerial spells at Manchester United, Cardiff and the Iranian national team amongst others, Frank would return to Torquay for two additional spells in charge during the late 1970s and early 1980s, before going on to work as a scout for the likes of Everton and Bolton prior to his retirement.

Have a wonderful day, Frank!
