United return to league action on Saturday when they take on King’s Lynn Town at Plainmoor.

Who’s the Boss?

Ian Culverhouse returned to take charge of the Linnets in November 2018, guiding them to the play-offs and promotion to the National League North for the first time. In his first full season in charge Culverhouse led King’s Lynn to a second successive promotion up to the National League, when after the season was curtailed due to Covid they were promoted on a Points Per Game system.

Culverhouse’s playing career as a right-back included spells at Norwich City, Swindon Town and Brighton before he moved into coaching roles at Barnet, Leyton Orient and Wycombe. Assistant Manager roles at Colchester, Aston Villa and Norwich followed before he took charge for the first time at King’s Lynn in 2017.

Player to watch

Ethan Coleman spent the latter stages of last season on loan at The Walks Stadium before making the move permanent in May when he signed from Brackley on a two-year deal. Coleman has appeared regularly this season and scored two goals to date, including the leveller in their 2-1 away win at Yeovil Town as well as the first equaliser in the 3-3 draw away at Eastleigh.

Coleman progressed through the youth ranks at Championship side Reading, where he had been since the age of nine. Upon his release from the Royals, the midfielder signed on at Brackley in September last year.

Played for both

Lathaniel Rowe-Turner played 11 league games for King’s Lynn whilst on loan from Leicester City in 2009. That loan spell was followed by a permanent move to Torquay United in February 2010 where Rowe-Turner played 35 league games and scored one goal in League Two. He remained at Plainmoor until May 2012 when he left to join Luton Town.

Rowe-Turner returned to the Gulls in the summer of 2016 and went on to make 46 appearances. His career has also seen him play for the likes of Alfreton Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Nuneaton Town, Chester and Kettering Town.

Previous Encounter

Torquay United 1 – 0 Kings Lynn Town, 20th March 2021, National League.

A Scott Boden goal early in the second half was enough to separate the teams last time out. An entertaining first half which ebbed and flowed saw good chances for both sides but remained goalless at the break.

The second half started in good fashion for the Gulls as a driving Connor Lemonheigh Evans run led to a 20-yard diagonal drive which Richardson in the Kings Lynn goal did well to parry, but fell at the feet of Boden who slid the ball into the net to give United a 46th minute lead.

Chances came and went for United in the second half but Lucas Covolan’s goal remained in tact and the Gulls comfortably saw out the 1-0 victory.
