TUAFC U14s came back from 2-0 down to claim all three points against North Somerset RTC last weekend.
In the only league match played for our youth teams last weekend it was the U14s who produced a sterling display, fighting back from 2-0 down to claim all three points in a 3-2 home victory.
The hosts started on the front foot with Lucas Robinson firing just over with the first chance of the game, and although the visitors did grow into the game the first quarter ended goalless. The second quarter started in the same vein with both teams having half chances before the game was turned with two quick goals for the visitors; in the 34th minute a loose ball was picked up and finished well to open the scoring, before three minutes later a miscommunication in the Torquay team allowed the visitors to double their lead and the second quarter ended with North Somerset in control.
The third quarter started well for the U14s with a Toby Hard snapshot hitting the post, before on 51 minutes the Young Gulls started the comeback when an Alfie Briard pass to Hard resulted in a goal. It only took United five more minutes to get back on level terms as a foul on Robinson resulted in a penalty which Hard despatched for his second of the game, the third quarter ended all square at 2-2. The forth quarter provided the best goal of the game when Hard turned inside finding Fergus Brennan-Osment whose first time pass found Robinson. Robinson fired into the bottom corner and the comeback was complete, and despite further chances for both side United saw out the game to complete the 3-2 win.
All other league games were postponed although the U12s did manage a friendly game against a team an age group higher. The age difference played its part with Marine Academy Plymouth U13s running out 9-1 winners.
