TUAFC have announced details that will see children & families throughout Torbay benefit from free tickets to watch live football at Plainmoor throughout the 2022/23 season, with support from the National Lottery.
With the support provided by The National Lottery for community groups, the Club have in turn decided to donate fifty season tickets to Torbay Children’s Services, in order to provide Torbay Council with the opportunity to distribute these tickets to children and families throughout the local community.
Torquay United AFC plays an integral role within its local community, and this new venture will see the Club reach out to many more residents of the wider Torbay community, some of whom may have never had the opportunity to watch live football on a regular basis before.
TUAFC is a proud to be recognised as an all-inclusive, family-orientated club, and the opportunity for local residents to enjoy these tickets with their families is sure to raise smiles and create long-lasting memories in equal measure!
Councillor Cordelia Law, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Torbay Council said:
“Making real improvements to Torbay Children’s Services has been a huge aim of the whole council.
“In May of this year, Ofsted inspectors judged Torbay Children’s Services as ‘Good’ in all four areas of inspection, stating that “services for children in Torbay have significantly improved”.
“Part of the Ofsted report recognised the importance free enrichment activities played in the wellbeing of cared for children and how this enhanced their peer relationships. Enrichment activities such as match days have only been made possible by partnering with local organisations such as Torquay United AFC.
“This is a fantastic example of community spirit and a wonderful opportunity for some of Torbay’s most vulnerable children to create happy memories with their foster families.”
We look forward to welcoming these new faces at Plainmoor again very soon!
