Following wins for both sides on Tuesday evening, Torquay United will host Taunton Town at Plainmoor in the 4th Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Whilst Gary Johnson’s side produced a marvellous fightback to secure a 3-2 win over Chippenham Town, Taunton came away from fellow National League South side Slough Town with a 1-0 victory. Joe Guest’s early strike proved to be the only goal of the game, as Town overcame the late dismissal of striker Nat Jarvis to clinch their place in the last 32 of the competition.
Although all attention at Torquay will now shift to National League matters, with the Yeovil Town double-header now on the horizon, Gulls boss Johnson is anticipating another tough test once the tie comes around in mid-January, with the contest due to take place on the weekend of 14th January 2023.
“Our thoughts in the FA Trophy now move on to Taunton Town,” said the Gaffer.
“It’s a good local derby, one that will once again be competitive, and a good travelling contingent from Taunton is expected.”
Ticketing arrangements for this fixture will be announced in due course.
