Former Gulls favourites continuing to delight fans at Plainmoor!
TUAFC’s Former Players Association saw a big increase in its numbers last season, with former United favourites such as Jim McNicol, Kevin Hill & Robbie Herrera all regular visitors to Plainmoor on matchdays. Another familiar face amongst the matchday staff is ex-goalkeeper John Turner, who combines his role as Matchday Bars Manager with sharing his pre-match insights and predictions to supporters prior to home games in the Gulls Nest and No.10’s Restaurant.
An Afternoon For Holmesy
The TUAFC Former Players Association were also in fine form at Plainmoor recently, as many of them reunited for a very special ‘Afternoon For Holmesy’.
In what was a memorable occasion for all those present, former United teammates Darren Moore, Paul Smith, Robbie Herrera, Sean Joyce, Russell Musker, Richard Thompson, John Uzzell, Phil Lloyd, Ken Veysey and Tom Kelly all took to the stage to recount their experiences as Gulls players, as the Club raised funds for former United star Paul Holmes, following the sad news of his recent cancer diagnosis.
Torquay United AFC would again like to thank everyone involved in the ‘Afternoon For Holmesy’ for making the event such a success, with the Club’s gratitude extended to all those who attended, volunteered, and provided auction and raffle prizes.
TUAFC Former Players Association
The aim of the Former Players Association is to recognise those who have contributed to the club on the field over the years, with the focus on being able to collect, preserve, and share the heritage of the club as a whole, in order to give it a platform for future success.
Over the last couple of seasons other ex-players, such as Tim Sills and Paul Hall, have also been involved with the club and welcomed back to Plainmoor.
It is the club’s aim to establish itself within the heart of the local community, and the creation of the FPA is seen as a very important step in that process.
Any former players who are interested in being invited to future events or attending future League Matches are asked to contact Jo Harris on 01803 328666 or via [email protected].
