Manager Gary Johnson has provided supporters with an update on leading scorer Aaron Jarvis, after The Gulls’ leading scorer missed United’s match at Hampton & Richmond.
Having sustained a serious-looking injury in the closing stages of the defeat to Weston-super-Mare last week, a scan on Jarvis’ injury provided a more positive outlook than what was initially feared.
“The latest news on Aaron Jarvis is good news, in the fact that the scan results showed a tear to the capsule in the knee, which is a lot better than feared originally.
“So, the rehab time is a lot shorter with this injury, than with ones that were feared, because this one needs no surgery and we’re hopeful that he will be back around Christmas.
“He’ll start his programme today, and we’re all very pleased that Jarvs is in a much better mental state knowing that his season and his career will carry on in a short time.”
Johnson also spoke regarding Mark Halstead, with the goalkeeper having to leave the field early last Saturday, following a nasty clash with a Hampton forward at the Beveree Stadium,
“He took a nasty knock to his chin at the game at Hampton. He went to hospital to get everything checked out in Torquay, and everything was cleared, other than needing a few stitches.”
