Torquay United AFC is saddened to learn of the passing of popular former Gulls right-back Mal Lucas.
Wrexham-born Mal began his senior playing career in 1958 with Leyton Orient, where he would go on on to clock up over a century of appearances – a feat he would replicate at his next club, Norwich City.
After signing for Torquay in 1970, Mal would spend four seasons at Plainmoor, making 135 appearances and scoring 3 goals in all competitions.
After his playing career – which included winning four full international caps for Wales – ended, Lucas went on to return to Norfolk to manage non-League side Gorleston between 1976-1980.
The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Club go out to all of Mal’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.
Thanks for the memories, Mal.
