Talented Bournemouth youngster heads to Plainmoor.

Torquay United boss Paul Wotton has strengthened his squad once more, following the loan signing of attacking right-back Finn Tonks from AFC Bournemouth.

Tonks’ arrival sees the player link up with Wotton once again, following a spell at Truro City last season, with the 19 year-old following in the footsteps of fellow Cherries loanees such as Sam Sherring and Archie Harris, who both enjoyed successful temporary spells on the English Riviera in recent seasons.

Having signed a six-month deal at Plainmoor, Finn spoke of his hopes for the season ahead.

“It’s a great opportunity for me coming down to Torquay, it’s a big club with a good history, so it was a no-brainer when it came up,” said the full-back.

“I’m excited to get started. National League South is a very good standard, and different to what I’m used to, but I’m ready to step up to the challenge.

“I’m a very tenacious, attacking and energetic player. I like to get up and down, get stuck in, and work very hard.”

With former Gulls loanee Harris providing a glowing endorsement following his own stint at Plainmoor during the last campaign, Tonks is now setting his sights on a successful spell of his own next term.

“Archie had nothing but good words to say about the club. I spoke to him a couple of times and he really enjoyed his time here.

“I just want to get the most out of it I can, and try and get to the top of the table – that’s what we’re going for.”

Welcome to Plainmoor, Finn!
