Torquay United is pleased to confirm the signing of central defender Jakub Sokolik.
Sokolik, 24, joined the Club in mid-February and made 5 appearances. His season was curtailed after a bout of sickness but that hasn’t stopped TUFC head coach Gary Owers from extending his stay at Plainmoor.
“I’m delighted that he has committed,” said Owers. “He’s a player of real quality that we’re fortunate to get. Unfortunately, he went down with a bout of sickness that is all cleared up now.”
Sokolik’s previous clubs include time in Liverpool’s youth system, and stays at Yeovil Town, Southend United, and Plymouth Argyle. The Gaffer sees his signature as a real coup for TUFC.
“He should be playing in the League somewhere. He’s got real quality and he has enjoyed his time here which is why he has committed again. For the level, to have a player of that quality and that experience it’s going to be massive for us.”
In other news, it was announced on Sunday that Brett Williams had signed a new contract with the Club and the Gaffer was happy to get that deal done.
“I’m pleased to have him on board,” added Owers. “He’s a player I really like; I like having him around the dressing room.
“I think it’s a big signing for us knowing the challenge that we face next season.”
You can join Jakub at Plainmoor next season by signing up for a 2018/19 season ticket
