As an additional bonus to fans pledging their support by purchasing a 2023/24 Season Ticket, holders will be entered into a series of draws ahead of the new campaign, with our latest winner receiving a signed player home shirt from the 2022/23 campaign.
This week’s winner was Daniel Bearne who has supported the club for over three decades, and after moving back to the area recently, the upcoming campaign will mark his first in many years as a Season Ticket holder!
“I’ve been a supporter for just over 30 years. This is my first Season Ticket in many years,” began Daniel.
After being drawn back in following United away towards the end of last season and moving back to the area, Daniel has pledged his support for the forthcoming campaign by purchasing a Season Ticket in the hope of getting to as many games as possible.
“I went to a few of the away games towards the end of last season and I just thought with work and family commitments I kind of felt a bit guilty really so I think the fact that I’ve just moved back to Torquay kind of makes me think that I’m going to try and get to every game that I can,” explained Daniel.
Regarding his favourite player, there was no hesitation in Daniel selecting United stalwart Dean Moxey.
“It’s got to be Dean Moxey – I work in Exeter so I’m friends with a few Exeter fans and obviously everybody loves Dean Moxey, so I’ll have to go with Dean Moxey!”
With 30 years worth of memories to choose from, a memorable moment for Daniel was the recent draw in the 2018/19 season that saw Gary Johnson’s side all but clinch the National League South title at league rivals Woking.
“One that I can remember recently was the 3-3 draw away at Woking – we needed a point to get promotion from the National League South – so probably Woking away was the most recent favourite really,” explained Daniel.
With family links seeing Daniel become a United supporter, he has fond memories of his late father bringing him to Plainmoor as a youngster, and is now focused on his support for United, having lost interest in the Premier League.
“Probably the links with my late father, he was a big Torquay fan and he got me into it when I was younger, so probably just the fact that my family have always been associated with the Club,” began Daniel.
“I used to be into the Premier League but now just absolutely not interested in it at all!”
