Having already signed up for 2023/24, long-standing Gulls fan Jon Hiscoke was our second lucky winner and received a match-worn home shirt as part of our Season Ticket Prize Draws!
As an additional bonus to fans pledging their support by purchasing a 2023/24 Season Ticket, holders will be entered into a series of draws ahead of the new campaign, with our second winner receiving a match-worn shirt from the 2022/23 campaign.
Accompanied by his two sons, Ben and Sam, Jon received his player-worn shirt and spoke about how his support for the Club began and has continued, with Jon now bringing his two sons to Plainmoor with a Family Season Ticket.
“I’ve been supporting the Club since I was about my son’s age really, so I was about seven or eight years old, so about 28, 29 years now,” began John.
“It was always me, my dad and my brother, but my brother does a lot of work now; me and my dad would always go and Ben and Sam would go along too, so financially it made perfect sense to have a Family Season Ticket for coming to the football every week. We’d be coming anyway, regardless of the league we’re in so it’s quite nice to have the offer of a Family Season Ticket.
“At the moment times are tight and financially it makes sense, it might be, grandfather, son and then grandkids, so financially it works well, and it’s a nice way to keep the family involved and keep the kids going to Plainmoor, without having to break the bank too much!”
Looking back, Jon was able to reminisce on a number of fond memories supporting the Club.
“Eunan O’Kane’s goal against Plymouth Argyle, Shrewsbury in the play-offs, Notts County in the play-offs – I think it would be controversial, but our most favourite recent game was the Hartlepool match at Bristol City because it was just a really good day out, never really get to see a goalkeeper score, so that was really special, just coming over covid so that was nice; as much as it was a disappointing result, we had a really good day, so that game is always going to stick out in my mind as well.”
Looking ahead to present day and current players, it didn’t take much debate, however, for the trio to decide on their favourite current Gulls’ player.
“I think Mark Halstead is our favourite player isn’t he? or Aaron Jarvis, is mine – yes, Halstead or Jarvis,” said Jon.
