Following the recent news that the Club had achieved its fundraising target for Torbay Hospital, United stars Asa Hall & Dean Moxey paid a surprise visit to patients and staff on the Louisa Cary Children’s Ward.
After the Ward identified a new monitor to measure children’s carbon dioxide levels as a priority, Torquay United AFC launched a number of initiatives in order to reach its fundraising target, and thanks to the combined efforts of everyone connected with the Club, the success of this campaign will now enable the Hospital to purchase this vital piece of equipment.
Having met with Asa, Dean and TUAFC Charitable Giving Coordinator Jo Harris at the Hospital, Ward Manager Michelle Townsend took a moment to thank everybody involved with the fundraising efforts, before going on to explain the importance of the device.
“We are so grateful to Torquay United AFC, the players, and fans, for their generosity and support in raising funds for a new carbon dioxide module for a cardiac monitor on the High Dependency Unit on Louisa Cary ward – Torbay Hospital’s children’s ward.
“This additional monitoring device will enable staff to assess & measure a child’s carbon dioxide levels should they become unwell enough to need breathing support via a ventilator whilst on the High Dependency Unit.
“This equipment will play a key part in the treatment and care that Louisa Cary ward provides to local children & young people. Torquay United AFC really has been a fantastic and generous supporter of Louisa Cary ward for many years and, as well as raising funds, visits from Torquay United players have had a hugely beneficial effect on the children on the ward, really helping to lift everyone’s spirits.”
Torquay United AFC would like to again place on record its thanks to everyone that supported us with the very worthy cause.
