Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Arkell Jude-Boyd from Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
Versatile defender Arkell, 21, has risen through the ranks at Loftus Road since joining The Hoops as a youngster, and having signed his first professional deal back in 2022, the highly-rated player has gone on to become a regular in Rangers’ Development side, as well as spending time training with QPR’s first-team squad.
After spending a brief period out on loan to National League side Dagenham & Redbridge last term, United manager Gary Johnson is pleased to be able call upon Jude-Boyd’s services as a Gulls player, with a busy February fixture list in mind.
“We appreciate QPR loaning us one of their young prospects,” said Johnson.
“We’ve watched him a few times, and he’s a very quick, aggressive defender who can play right-back, or right wing-back. I think he’s already spoken to Duke [Stephen Duke-McKenna] and Armstrong [Sinclair Armstrong], and I’m pleased to say they’ve given us a good reference.
“At this moment in time, with two defenders going down recently – Fin, and Ollie Tomlinson, who’s unfortunately got a groin strain from the game the other day – it was great that we could do something quickly to alleviate the problem of being short of defenders.”
Arkell Jude-Boyd will wear the No. 2 shirt during his time with the Club.
Welcome to Plainmoor, Arkell!
