Torquay United’s plans for 2023/24 have received yet another boost, with the news that goalkeeper Rhys Lovett will be extending his stay at Plainmoor, having agreed a new deal for 2023/24.
After arriving at Plainmoor last summer, the Birmingham-born 25 year-old shot stopper went on to make eight appearances for The Gulls last term, and having become a hugely popular member of the squad, Rhys’ decision to take his place alongside Mark Halstead in United’s goalkeeping department is another welcome development ahead of the eagerly-anticipated 2023/24 campaign.
Having given Lovett his debut as a youngster at Cheltenham Town five years ago, Torquay boss Gary Johnson is delighted to have secured another key addition to next season’s roster.
“It’s great that we’ve added Rhys to our squad,” said Johnson.
“Rhys has done very well when he has come into the first-team. He’s got a great future ahead of him as a goalkeeper, and the fact that I’ve signed him a couple of times at a couple of Clubs is testament to his undoubted ability.
“He’s a great pro, and gives everything everyday.”
