United are back into action at Plainmoor on Saturday after a two-week break from fixtures because of the FA Cup weekend. The first team squad have undergone fitness testing, running drills, and some tough training sessions during the break. “We’ve just worked hard,” said Torquay United head coach Gary Owers at his weekly press call.
United head into Saturday’s match against Maidstone (kick-off 3pm) still missing forwards Rhys Murphy and Jake Gosling through injury. Forward Rhys Murphy is out of contention while he continues his recovery from an ankle sprain. “He’s been trying really hard to get fit, but he hasn’t made it,” said Torquay United head coach Gary Owers.
