United’s Women crowned SWRWFL champions
Everybody at Torquay United AFC would like to congratulate Torquay United Women FC for winning the South West Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division.
With Emma Hunt’s goal just before the break sealing a 1-0 win over Royal Wotton Bassett Town at Liverton United’s Halford Ground on Sunday afternoon, those three points saw Steve Elswood’s side overtake title rivals Bristol Rovers on the final day of the 2022/23 campaign, to not only clinch the title, but also secure promotion to the fourth tier for the first time in TUWFC’s history.
This season’s fantastic achievement come just twelve months after Elswood’s side secured cup glory in beating Exeter City in the final of the Devon Premier Cup final – another first – and is further evidence of the successful partnership between TUAFC and TUWFC, with the Women now a familiar presence at Plainmoor on matchdays.
Everybody at Torquay United AFC would like to congratulate TUWFC on becoming SWRWFL champions, and we look forward to them continuing to push on to even greater heights in the National League next term.
