Dave Rudge RIP

Torquay United AFC is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Gulls midfielder Dave Rudge.

Wolverhampton-born Rudge made 71 appearances and scored 4 goals during two years at United, following his arrival from Hereford in 1975.

A popular midfielder who initially made his name at Aston Villa, Dave continued to reside close to Plainmoor with his wife Sue in retirement, and remained a frequent visitor to the stadium on matchdays, as well as being a familiar face at the Club’s Retro Gulls events during the past twelve months, including a stint as guest speaker alongside Paul Trollope last March.

As a mark of respect, our next Retro Gulls event, scheduled to take place on Thursday 25th August between 2-4pm, has now been postponed.

The thoughts and condolences of everyone at TUAFC go out to Sue, and all of Dave’s family and friends, at this very sad time.
