Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce that former Exeter City left-back Dean Moxey has signed for the club.
Dean, 34, brings with him a wealth of experience, having racked up over 550 senior appearances for the likes of City, Derby County, Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers.
Having played a part in winning promotion at every level from the National League up to the Championship, Moxey’s experience of the top five divisions in English football can only serve as a further boost to an already-impressive looking United squad, ahead of the National League season beginning on October 3rd.
Gary Johnson’s latest addition comes after Liam Davis experienced a setback in his recovery from injury, prompting United to act quickly to secure the services of the versatile player, who has also operated in both central defence and wing-back amongst other positions since beginning his career back in 2003.
“It’s good news and bad news from my point of view,” said Johnson.
“We’ll start with the bad news, that unfortunately Liam Davis has a slightly bigger problem than first thought, and is probably going to be out longer than anticipated. That is very unfortunate for him.
“We had to act quickly, and we have, by signing Dean Moxey. Like Liam, he is very experienced, and a player that we all know. He has already shown his character, commitment and quality in our training over the last few days. He’s still got ambitions, despite his age, and still totally loves the game.
“It’s another statement of intent by our club’s board of directors.”
Official TUFC TV caught up with Dean following training earlier today (above), to get his thoughts on becoming a Torquay United player.
