The Yellow Army are reminded that they have until 4pm today (Wednesday 4th January) to cast their vote for their December Player of the Month.
A calming presence between the sticks, Mark Halstead has produced some outstanding goalkeeping performances throughout December. United’s number 1 made some great saves in the side’s televised clash against Oldham, despite the narrow 3-2 defeat, having previously kept Dagenham & Redbridge at bay the previous weekend to see the side secure not only a victory, but a clean sheet too.
Deployed in a number of various defensive and midfield roles throughout the month, Shaun Donnellan has been an ever-present throughout December, and rounded the month off by being named the Match Ball Sponsor’s Man of the Match in United’s 1-1 draw against Yeovil Town on Boxing Day at Plainmoor.
After returning from an injury which left the Cardiff City loanee sidelined for a number of weeks, Kieron Evans has featured in every game throughout December. His versatility has seen him play in a number of positions across midfield, and although yet to get on the scoresheet, the Welshman has impressed with his trickery and number of well executed passes to help the side get forward.
Although forward Aaron Jarvis has only scored one goal from the penalty spot this month, the 24-year-old has been a key component in United’s strike force. Jarvis’ ability to hold up the ball, and battling spirit, has seen United’s number 9 create numerous chances for his teammates throughout the month.
The final nominee is November’s Player of the Month, Stephen Wearne. Since returning to the Club on loan from Grimsby Town in November, the midfielder has continued to impress the Yellow Army, with December seeing the 22-year-old score his first goal since returning to the Club against Chippenham Town in the FA Trophy Third Round, before going on to score his second, to see United progress into the next round.
