Torquay United’s squad strengthening continues to gather pace, with Sam Dreyer the latest player to join The Gulls’ ranks for 2024/25.

Centre-back Sam, 20, follows in the footsteps of his father John, who enjoyed a spell on loan with Stuart Morgan’s Torquay side during the 1985/86 season, prior to a superb career in the higher echelons of the English game with the likes of Oxford, Luton, Stoke and Bradford amongst others.

Dreyer junior, meanwhile, has already been earning plaudits for his displays for United’s National League South rivals Hampton & Richmond last term, having made 16 appearances for The Beavers whilst on loan from League One side Peterborough United.

Having started out at Stevenage, moves to Biggleswade, Hendon and Bedford followed, however the highly-rated defender has now made a permanent move to Plainmoor, after signing a two-year deal with the club.

Welcome aboard, Sam!
