United welcome Winchester City to Plainmoor on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup 4th round qualifying (KO 3pm).

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said TUFC manager Gary Johnson today. “The players are looking forward to it. It was a great second half against Woking the last time we were at home. Hopefully we can replicate that performance and everybody will go home happy again.”

“We’ve mentioned it to the boys. It was important that we showed our full-time status is going to be a big plus for us. We’ve made a point of letting the boys know that they’ve got to finish strong otherwise we’ll up the training again. We’re making it as sharp as we can, and as game orientated as we can. The boys are getting fit in their sessions rather than running them up hills. They’re getting more football sharp.”

The Gaffer went to assess the opposition in midweek.

“I went to watch to watch them play Tuesday at Cirencester. It was a great game, a great game. they lost in the end but they played very well and they’ve got the sort of team that are going to have their moments, for sure. We’ve got to be aware of that. They’re not going to be a pushover and we mustn’t see it like that, as I wouldn’t anyway. They done very well to reach this point; it’s a massive game for them. We have to make sure it’s a massive game for us because we want to get through to the first round proper.

“It will be a goof football match because they’ve got some good footballers, and obviously so have we.”

Samir Nabi returned to full training this week. Ryan Dickson is continuing his rehab from injury and might return to full training within the next couple of weeks. Jamie Sendles-White will be out for five or six weeks with a hamstring injury. Ben Wynter has returned to training after illness.
