We have a very special evening coming for football fans as we welcome former Arsenal and England full-back Kenny Sansom to Plainmoor.

Kenny made over 300 appearances for Arsenal, and also played for Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, QPR, Coventry City, and Everton among other clubs. In total he made over 600 first team appearances and played 86 times for England, including playing in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final when England faced Argentina and Maradona scored the infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal.
After a twenty-year career in football he certainly has some stories to tell, not just about his top-level career in the game, but also about his battles with addictions.
We caught up with Kenny to ask him about what is in store on the night.
“I call it the good, the bad , and the ugly,” says Sansom. “There has been a lot of good, I can tell you.
“I talk about every club that I played for. Every story I tell is true because I was there! I have can tell you some stories about Bobby Robson. I’ve got some very nice stories about him, funny ones too” remembers Kenny.
“I talk about the exciting things that have happened in my career, and the goals that I scored – so that doesn’t take long! If people want to ask me questions then that’s not a problem. If people want to ask me about my addictions then I can talk about that as well.
“People come up to me and say: “You’re very honest”. I make a joke about it and say I don’t tell lies now, I’m divorced! It is nice that people appreciate my honesty and my true stories – that’s my life.
“I hope the people enjoy it as much as I do. I enjoy telling my story.”
Tickets are £35 each and include a three-course meal and stand-up comedian. The evening will be unmissable for all football fans so book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
