Not to be outdone by their first team counterparts, Chris Todd’s young Gulls secured an excellent 5-0 win on Monday evening to emerge victorious in their Second Round Qualifying tie.
Theo Cadby grabbed the headlines at Darby Way, as the striker helped himself to four goals, whilst Jaydon Gilbert also got on the scoresheet to secure a comprehensive win in Somerset.
United were ahead as early as the third minute, and in a similar pattern to Saturday’s game at Plainmoor, had added two more by the half-hour mark. Although they had to wait a little later for the fourth and fifth instalments, Torquay’s next generation remained in total control of proceedings, as they made it through to a Third round Qualifying tie away to Oxford City.
That match, pencilled in for the week commencing 11th October now takes on added importance, with a potential 1st round proper clash against EFL opponents just one step away.
Well played, lads!
