Manager Gary Johnson paid tribute to his whole squad after United produced a marvellous performance in Hertfordshire to secure a place in the last sixteen of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

“It was a fantastic result against a strong Boreham Wood team,” began Johnson.

“The first half was a bit of a battle without too many chances, but in the second half we came out and got our game going, and once we get our game going, it’s hard to stop us.”

Asa Hall opened the scoring early in the second period following a scoreless first 45 minutes, before late strikes from substitute Billy Waters, Adam Randell and Connor Lemonheigh-Evans put the gloss on a superb team performance.

“I was really pleased with the whole squad, they all played their part, they all did their jobs, especially when the subs came on.

“We asked them to do certain things, and they did. It was a real squad performance today, which was great.”

United will now travel to Southport to contest their fifth round encounter, with the tie scheduled to take place on Saturday, 6th February.
