Having recently tasted success in both league and cup, Chris Todd’s Under-18 side continued on the quest to claim a remarkable treble last weekend, as they ran out 3-0 winners over local rivals Yeovil Town.

The rearranged Gary Else Memorial League Cup semi-final at South Devon College was initially a closely-fought affair, with the visiting side from Somerset giving United a run for their money in the opening period.

The second half was a different affair however, with the Young Gulls eventually running out clear winners, thanks to a brace of goals from Lewis Brooks, and another from Ben Aldous.

Those goals were enough to see United through to the final, where they will meet a Bridgwater side looking for revenge, following their 3-1 defeat at the hand of Torquay the previous weekend, a result which left Todd’s men seeking just one more point to secure their first ever South West Counties Youth title.

In addition to that, United will also be competing for cup glory against Tavistock before the season is out too, with their Wotton Printers Devon U18 Youth Cup final taking place in April.

All this just further adds to the excitement, with Torquay’s Head of Youth delighted with his side’s showing against Yeovil.

“In the first half, they tried to frustrate us,” began Todd.

“We then adjusted our game, and we came up with three good finishes.”
