With the return of Alex Bass from injury, manager Gary Johnson has two very capable ‘keepers vying for the number 1 shirt.

Bass had been out of contention due to an MCL injury and returned to parent club Portsmouth in late September. After an extensive rehab program his return, along with a few other familiar faces, boosts Gary Johnson’s options just before the busy Christmas period. Bass took a spot on the bench in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Dulwich Hamlet with Shaun MacDonald keeping his place.

MacDonald has performed admirably over the last couple of months, and helped United over the line on Saturday.

“I was really pleased with Shaun’s performance,” said Johnson. “I’m pleased to say that we now have two first team goalkeepers; I trust them both.”

“I’ll make sure that we keep them both happy.”
