Following the release of Torquay United’s season ticket packages for the 2019/2020 season, manager Gary Johnson took time out to emphasise the vital role season ticket holders will play in his team strengthening plans ahead of next season.
“The big thing for me is keeping the momentum going, because everybody enjoyed the season. We all enjoyed each other’s company on and off the field, and the biggest signing will be season ticket holders,” said Johnson.
“What I can promise them is that I am doing my best at this moment in time with Pete [Head Of Recruitment, Pete Johnson] and Aaron [Assistant Manager, Aaron Downes] to get a competitive squad that people will have an affinity with because they’ll be good characters and good personalities.
“I will put together a team that will entertain and score goals, so although we’ve gone up a level, it means that the more season tickets we get, the stronger the squad we can put in place. That’s going to be vital for next year to make sure we compete at the top end of the table. If you buy a season ticket, I won’t let you down in putting together an entertaining group of players!
“We’re working hard at the present time, there’s been lots of discussions with players and player’s representatives. It’s difficult at the moment, there probably won’t be too many names of signings being given out just yet; everybody is waiting for the lists that come around from the clubs. We’re on top of it and we’ve worked hard since the end of the season to identify the right people for our bus.”
