The Young Gulls were back in action over the weekend, with three age categories extending their unbeaten runs to four.
The U12s continued their goal-scoring form on Saturday, with a 5-0 victory over Saints Southwest Somerset. Oscar Mills opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before two minutes later Thomas Ross struck to double the Young Gulls’ advantage. Mills scored his second in the 32nd minute before Charlie Wise’s brace saw the U12s go into half time 4-0 up. United’s final goal came in the 75th minute through Jamie Mitchell who sealed the 5-0 victory. The win sees the Young Gulls extend their lead at the top of the table, three points ahead of Saints Southwest Somerset.
Meanwhile its been a tough start for the U13 side, who played league leaders Juventus Devon in tough conditions on Saturday and succumbed to a 12-0 defeat.
The U14s made it four games unbeaten on Saturday when they won 6-3 at home against Juventus Devon. The Young Gulls took the lead inside 3 minutes through Freddie Nicol before they doubled their advantage in the 10th minute; Lucas Robinson ran through the visitors defence before slotting home. Four minutes later, Toby Hard found himself on the scoresheet after getting on the end of a Coby White pass to make it 3-0 inside the first 15 minutes. However the visitors got a goal back moments later after confusion at the back for United allowed Juventus to finish from close range, 3-1, before three minutes later, the score was 3-2. Hard netted his second of the game in the 34th minute to ensure the U14s entered the interval leading 4-2. United continued to press in the second half and Robinson went on to earn his hattrick with two goals in three minutes. A penalty in the 70th minute enabled the visitors to make it 6-3, with the Young Gulls extending their lead to three points at the top of the table.
The U15 side had a tough clash with top of the table Bridgwater United FC on Saturday and were narrowly defeated 5-3. Impressively, Adam Reda Khalaf earned himself a hattrick, scoring twice in the first half, before securing his third in the 57th minute. It was a valiant effort by the Young Gulls on the road against the leagues top side.
United’s U16 side were the third age category to extend their unbeaten run to four after winning their fourth game of the season on Saturday to see the Young Gulls extend their lead at the top of the table to three points. Charlie Wood opened the scoring in the 12th minute before the home side equalised in the 30th minute. However in the second half it was two goals in two minutes by Nathan Lee and Aidan Barrow that saw United lead 3-1 going into the final fifteen minutes. FC Wiltshire managed to get a goal back with twelve minutes left on the clock, but it was United who took the points, with a 3-2 victory away from home at full time.
