Alongside the current raffle raising funds for Torbay Hospital’s Louisa Cary Ward, the Club’s latest shirt auction will see further funds go towards a new parent bed for the ward.
With the ward looking to fund a new parent bed, the Club has already started to raise funds for this cause with our 2023 Christmas Raffle seeing funds raised going directly to the Lousia Cary ward to fund this piece of equipment, with further details on the raffle available HERE. Looking to boost the funds raised, the Club is also auctioning four match-worn shirts, with both home and away kits available for bidding.
Our latest shirt auction will again be held online HERE, allowing supporters to keep track on the progress of their chosen shirt.
Bids can be placed on any of the available shirts listed individually on our official Club Shop website. When bids are placed, the current price will automatically update and be displayed on the specific shirt listing.
Each shirt has a reserve price of £50 and our latest shirt auction will close at 4pm on Friday 15th December.
Please note, all winning bidders will be notified via email within 48 hours, with a full list of the shirts available in the auction detailed below:

The Louisa Cary children’s ward at Torbay Hospital cares for a number of children aged between 0-18 with any medical, surgical or psychological conditions requiring inpatient care, with Torquay United’s 2023 Club Raffle following on from last year’s memorable link-ups between the Club and the Hospital, which saw the Club meet its target to purchase a new monitor for the Children’s Ward.
This year, the Club has a new target in mind, with our latest raffle and shirt auction seeing funds raised for a new parent bed on the ward, with the hospital aiming to have a parent bed aligned to every patient bed on the ward, ensuring parents are as comfortable as possible, whilst remaining by their child’s bedside.
Each bed costs around £1,500 and is specially manufactured for use in the hospital environment and can be cleaned and disinfected using the same products as used for all other hospital beds and mattresses. They will sleep adults up to 200kg safely and in comfort. While the NHS provides all the essentials on the ward, the Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity helps to fund the items, equipment and services over and above this which help to improve and enhance patient care.
Paediatric Sister Sarah Pallister explains the importance of the beds.
“Being in hospital can be a distressing time for a poorly child and these beds provide parents of sick children a vital place of comfort at the bedside of their child. When a parent bed isn’t available, all we can offer to parents is an upright chair by the bedside, this isn’t ideal and doesn’t make for a good nights’ sleep. When a parent has properly rested they can better support their child during this stressful and unsettling time.
“We are so grateful to Torquay United FC and their supporters for raising funds for a new parent bed for the ward, a piece of equipment that we wouldn’t be able to fund otherwise, that will make such a difference to the children and parents we support for many years to come.”
