TUAFC’s partnership with MMH Warriors continues to go from strength to strength, with Boots & Laces now providing the venue for meetings every Monday at Plainmoor.
Founded by local mental health advocate Paul Edmundson, MMH warriors are a self-help group for men aged 18+ who are struggling with their mental health, and with Torbay sadly having one of the highest suicide rates in the country, Paul has decided to call upon his own experience and struggles to help others throughout the Bay.
Coming soon, Men’s Mental Health Warriors will be holding a free group session at Boots & Laces every Monday evening between 6pm-7pm, where Tea & Coffee will be provided.
One of the key aspects to Paul’s drive to support those in struggle is not just to discuss individual problems, but also to plot a way to a brighter future, and the recent link-up with TUAFCis seen as an important in raising awareness of this strategy.
With stereotypes of those struggling with mental health -particularly men- sadly still evident, it is hoped that MMH Warriors’ partnership with The Gulls will help to break down those barriers.
Ahead of his stint as Guest Speaker at Retro Gulls last Thursday, Paul met up with TUAFC Supporter Liaison Officer Dominic Mee to discuss the partnership with the Club.
