Highly-rated midfielder arrives at Plainmoor
Torquay United’s prospects for 2024/25 have received another boost, as The Gulls confirm the signing of former Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Omar Mussa.
Having gained a reputation as one of the most cultured midfielders in non-League football following successful spells with the likes of Dover, Weymouth and The Daggers, Paul Wotton’s side fought off a number of rivals clubs to land the 23 year-old Burundi international.
After beginning his career with KV Mechelen – where he gained Belgium U18 honours – Omar made the switch to English football, prior to making his debut in the EFL for League One side Walsall in 2019.
Moves to Dover, and then Weymouth followed, before a switch to Dagenham saw Mussa make 45 appearances, scoring 5 goals for the National League side, in addition to winning his first caps for Burundi during their World Cup Qualifying campaign.
The addition of the cultured midfield schemer is sure to excite the Yellow Army, and after signing for the club, Omar spoke to Official TUFC TV about his excitement at arriving on the English Riviera.
Welcome to Plainmoor, Omar Mussa!
