United will open their 2021/22 National League campaign at Plainmoor against Altrincham on Saturday, August 21 (3pm KO).
Once again we welcome Yeovil Town to Plainmoor on Boxing Day and make the trip to Huish Park on January 2nd.
“It is always an exciting moment when you get the league fixtures through,” said Torquay United manager, Gary Johnson.
“For our home fans it is a magnificent start with the first game being at home to Altrincham. Then our old rivals Woking at home. And then the two relegated clubs from League Two – Grimsby and Southend – that we wouldn’t have played in a while.
“Hopefully we can get an early run of form given our home support in some very competitive but interesting games.”
As has been the case for United in recent times, the club faces a long journey on the final game of the season.
“We’ve been given a hell of a trip on the last game of the season away to Southend. It might be quicker to get a boat round there!”
Finally, and most importantly, Johnson emphasised the importance of the Yellow Army from the build-up of the very first league game of the season.
“It’s important that Torquay’s energy and support comes out very early, so we’re looking forward to seeing you all. I promise we’ll do all we can to get our team 100% ready for the start of the season.”
