Torquay United AFC has this evening received confirmation from the National League that the 2020/21 season is scheduled to start on Saturday, 3rd October 2020.
This clarification brings an end to the sustained period of uncertainty which followed the initial suspension, and subsequent cancellation, of the club’s National League fixtures from March 16th.
With a date now in place for the resumption of competitive action, the club can now move forward with its plans for the new season ahead at Plainmoor.
In addition to being provided with a scheduled start date, the club has also received formal confirmation of the expectation that spectators will be allowed to enter the stadium from the outset of 2020/21, albeit with a significantly reduced capacity in place.
Final league matches are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 29th May 2021, with end-of-season play-off matches following in June, subject to FA approval.
Torquay United AFC would like to take this opportunity to thank its devoted supporters for their committed and unfailing support during what has been a very testing period.
Despite the challenges that lay ahead, everybody at the club is doing everything possible behind the scenes to ensure that the next season will be one to remember for the Yellow Army.
