Defender Alex Davey has rejected a contract to stay at Torquay United.

The former Chelsea defender joined United on a loan deal from League Two side Cheltenham in November. His contract with the Robins has ended and he is expected to join National League side, Boreham Wood.  He made 7 appearances for the Gulls.

The Gaffer is hopeful of bringing in signings before Saturday’s match against Wrexham, but Davey will not be one of them.

“[I] agreed a contract on Tuesday [with Alex]. During the course of the day shook his hand and by Wednesday morning he’d rang us and told us that he was going to sign for Boreham Wood.” said TUFC head coach, Gary Owers.

“It leaves us a little bit short but that’s the law of the jungle.”
