TUFC head coach Gary Owers has moved to add to his squad with the additions of central defender Conrad Balatoni and winger Reece Mitchell.
Both players have signed contracts until the end of the season, and Owers is pleased to have them on board.
“Conrad is coming in as a free agent with lots of experience,” said Owers before training this morning. “That was one of the major attractions. Up until now it has been difficult to sign someone with his experience. That is an added bonus and hopefully he can do well for us.
“He’s excited by the prospect of playing down here, and he was pretty quick to make that decision to come on board.”
Reece Mitchell will cause problems for the opposition at the other end of the pitch according to the Gaffer.
“Reece has got some good experience – exciting player that will bring lots of pace to the team. I tried to get him on loan earlier in the season and it didn’t materialize. Got an opportunity to bring him as a contracted player until the end of the season and I’m looking forward to see him play for us.
“He’s a wide player, he can obviously play down the middle but what he will bring to the team is raw pace and energy – that is something that maybe we miss a little bit of.”
With United having played three at the back in recent months, does Recce’s addition suggest a formation change?
“Possibly, yes, it is in my thoughts. I have to think about that. I think the formation we have played was based on trying to get the best out of the players I had available. With the picture changing I have a chance to think about playing a different way. That is under consideration.”
