Bromley head to Plainmoor tomorrow night under the floodlights, as The Gulls go in search of three valuable points.

With Bromley coming to the English Riviera for this fixture, Gary Johnson’s men will be looking to clip the wings of the Play Off chasing Ravens, by claiming all three points to help lift them up the table.

Who’s the Boss?

Andy Woodman began his coaching career as Assistant Manager at Rushden & Diamonds in 2006, before more than a decade of coaching experience followed at the likes of West Ham, Charlton Athletic, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Arsenal.

Woodman has been at the helm at Hayes Lane since March 2021 and guided Bromley into the final play-off position of 2020/21 after the side had been 10th, four points adrift of the play-offs at the time of his arrival. Although a poor end to the 2021/22 league season meant they missed out on the play-offs, Woodman’s Bromley finished the season as FA Trophy Champions when the beat Wrexham 1-0 at Wembley thanks to a Michael Cheek goal.

How have they been doing?

Bromley started the season with a defeat and a draw before claiming their first win of the season in the reverse fixture against United back in August, thanks to a Louis Dennis goal that proved to be the winner. That result set the Ravens on a run of results that led them up to fourth position at the start of October. However both October and November proved to be difficult months with a seven match winless run only being ended by a 3-2 win away at Dorking, though since that win Bromley have only suffered one defeat, that being away at Woking last Tuesday night, although a lot of the games have ended in draws,

Coming in this match Bromley are in 9th position with a record of twelve wins, twelve draws and nine defeats from their 33 games played so far, and they have 48 points leaving them just three points outside the Play Off places.

Player to Watch

Louis Dennis is currently in his second spell with Bromley having re-joined in 2021, and will be no stranger to the United side having bagged the winner for Bromley in the game at Hayes Lane back in August.

Dennis came through the ranks at Watford, and then Dagenham & Redbridge, although it took until January 2013 from him to make his debut following loan spells at Bedfont Town, Grays Athletic, Canvey Island and Hayes & Yeading. Upon his release from Victoria Road the striker had his first spell at Bromley where he made over 130 appearances and scored 35 goals in a four year stay between 2014 and 2018. Moves to Portsmouth and Leyton Orient followed before his return to Hayes Lane.

Played for Both

Joe Quigley came through the youth ranks at AFC Bournemouth before signing a professional contract at the club, and it was while he was at the South Coast club that he had a loan spell at Poole Town, played 10 games and scored one goal here at United before completing other loan moves to Wrexham, Woking, Gillingham, Newport and Boreham Wood. Following his release from the Cherries, Quiqley then joined Maidstone, with Bromley next on his travels, before loan spells at Eastbourne and the Havant & Waterlooville took him to Dagenham & Redbridge. Yeovil Town then called upon the strikers services, and in 54 games he scored 16 goals before he moved to current club Chesterfield in 2022.

Previous Encounter

Torquay 0 – 0 Bromley, Saturday 5th March 2022, National League.

It was a game of no goals but plenty of excitement, as despite having Joe Lewis sent off in the first half, United held on to deny Play Off chasing Bromley, and at the same time gain a valuable point for themselves as they too made a late run for one of the Play Off places.
