THE first genuine graduate from the new Football Development Programme has emerged in the form of talented young striker Olaf Koszela.

After a tremendous season with the Under-16s that saw us with the League title in the Junior Premier League and reach the National Cup Final, Olaf has now signed a senior contract with Torquay United.

Olaf will train with the United first-team and be given a full professional contract when he turns 17 in March. He will attend Torquay Academy Football Development Programme in partnership with the club, representing the new Torquay United Under-18 side.

“It is a great achievement for Olaf and I’m delighted for him,” said General Manager Geoff Harrop. “Olaf has been excellent all season and scored the goals to help our Under-16 team reach impressive heights.

“He will benefit greatly from training with full-time professionals, while also sharpening his skills in the new youth league we are entering. Olaf trained with two Premier League clubs last year and his potential is very obvious.

“I am also very pleased for our growing Football Development Programme, as it shows parents and young players there is a clear pathway to first-team football. Congratulations to Olaf and his family.”
