Torquay United AFC is pleased to announce the loan signing of Opi Edwards from Forest Green Rovers.
Edwards, 22, will already be a familiar face to the Yellow Army courtesy of two previous loan spells at the Club, with Opi playing a key role in United’s National League South title triumph, before returning to Plainmoor for a second time at the beginning of 2019/20, where he would go on to score in the opening day win over Boreham Wood, before repeating the feat in the televised victory over Aldershot Town later that month.
His return for a third spell on the English Riviera provides Gary Johnson’s squad with a timely boost, as they continue to chase down a top-seven finish this term.
“Opi was very much part of our winning National League South team,” began the Gaffer.
“He went back to be part of the first-team squad at Bristol City, and then went to Forest Green. We heard of his availability, and checked on all his injuries – because he was unlucky with injuries with us – and the problem that he had, at that time, has now been sorted.”
“I’m very pleased to have Opi back with us.”
In other loan news, United players Louie Slough and Marcin Brzozowski have both agreed temporary moves away from Plainmoor, with the two players heading to Dorchester Town and Hayes & Yeading respectively.
