United’s second match of pre-season takes them to Dorset where they face Poole Town. For TUFC head coach Gary Owers it is another chance to see how his squad are developing.

“We’re two weeks into pre-season into it now,” said Owers. “In the next game we’re looking to tighten up one or two things. We’ve done work on attacking and defending since the Forest Green game.

“It’s still early days in our preparation and we’re still building everything up for that first game of the season.”

United completed the signing of defender Jean-Yves Koue Niate on Thursday this week. He is another step forward in Owers’ plans for the coming season.

“Jean played as a central defender in a back three this morning, and then on the left side in a back four. He’s a massive physical presence and hopefully that is going to be useful in the course of the season.

“We’re still looking to strengthen in other areas.”
